Because the Journey is experienced only as a series of memories this image illustrates the fact perfectly. The spiral stone sculpture which is inset was created at Marsden Bay about 5 Year ago. I created this image on the 20th of February 2007 and uploaded it to the Blog on the 22nd of March. Three experiences of the same event seperated by 5 years and now experiened together but in the past. All experience exists in the past.

ThE tIME it Takes
A record of part of my journey this represents the time it took to get to one place to the other. Layers upon layer of time 10 miles approx 1 hour in a single plane.
CoNNeCtion
From one point connect to the World. A node in the Collective Conciousness...Symbolic of all the directions you can make from one point in time and space.
LIght TRavelled .........>>>>>>>>>>>>
Pinhole images convert the reality of what we see. Instead of the modern cameras ability to capture an image in an instant pinhole images take time to build up an image on the emulsion. In this respect it is the scene that is making the journey as well as the viewer.

Spiral

This small sculpture was done circa 2000 at Marsden Bay. After i took the photograph it got me thinking about the nature of reality. The light travelling from this sculpture does not reach the eye or the camera instantaneously. It takes time to travel. This got me thinking that if what we see is reflected light then the reality we see is always in the past. The light from our Sun takes 8 mins to reach us the light from some distant stars take billions of years so some of the stars we see in the night sky dont exist at all, having gone Super Nova or had some other cataclysmic event destroy their very existense. So in essense what im saying is that this photograph or collection of Html code if you are viewing this online is as real as the original sculpture if not more so.

Video Still
Recording the journey on Video allows me the opportunity to control time. We experience time via memory, memory is not linear therefore time is not linear. Nothing in physics states that time cannot run backwards it only states that this is highly improbable.
Signs and Symbols
Homo Ergaster one of our earliest ancestors was the first species of early Hominid to recognise an abstract mark, the tracks of animals, the ability to equate the traces with the animals that left them gave Homo Ergaster a head start in the evolutionary race and he was probably the first Hominid with the ability to appreciate abstract art. We still use signs and symbols to navigate our environments today, conciously and also via the subconciuos reading of subtle traces left by those who have gone before.
